Eek, I forgot my birth certificate!

by Angela

I took a spontaneous vacation to Mexico five years ago, and it was an amazing trip! I had lots of fun while I was there, but little did I know that due to my spontaneity, I forgot my birth certificate! I needed my birth certificate to get back across the border. This was before you had to have a passport. The border patrol people did not let me leave the country when I tried to go back home to the United States! I was terrified, scared, and I felt like if I actually planned my vacation out thoroughly, I would not have forgotten something as important as my birth certificate. At the time, I lived close to the border, so my parents actually had to bring all the proper documentation with them in order to get me back into America. Of course, they weren't too happy with having to bail me out of that situation.
