Losing posessions and more

by Steven
(Orlando, Florida)

When hurricane Katrina came, my family was in Florida and the wind knocked holes in the ceiling and flooded our house. Our carpet, furniture, photos and electronics were all damaged.

It was absolutely horrible and I wish that we would have had an inventory of all the things in our house for insurance purposes. We only recovered some of our lost items and many things that were not recoverable were lost to the flooding and never replaced because we didn't have an inventory.

If we had to do it all over again we would have a full inventory done with pictures. Part of living in Florida is hurricanes and tornadoes. You never know when your life will be ripped apart and even if you have insurance still losing everything.

I highly recommend not following the path that my family and I followed and to have backups of supplies and to do a home inventory for insurance purposes.
